I was talking with a friend of mine this week who is a makeup artist. While our kids played, I took the time to pick her brain a bit. I hope to tell you all a good bit more about Paula soon, but in the mean time she gave me a couple of great tips for making the most out of your makeup trial.
Paula likes to do a makeup trial as close to a wedding as possible, which I found odd until she explained. Many brides will get facials, spray tans, waxing, botox, or any number of other things that will completely change the way your makeup needs to be done. So, if you are looking to do your trial earlier in the game, make sure you are as tan as you intend to be on your wedding day. Steer clear of having anything on your face waxed, or even a facial the week of your wedding and the week of your makeup trial. The closer your skin is to the way you want it on your wedding day, the better your trial will go.
To kill two birds with one stone, if you are planning a bridal portrait, consider doing your hair and makeup trial that day. It will save you money and help you to see how everything comes together. Since not every trial goes as planned, you may want to give yourself time between the salon and the photographer, just in case you need to rework things a bit.
